Dr. Sumeet Sharma
Dr Sharma graduated in 2002 obtaining MBBS with distinction. He subsequently gained MRCP in the UK and trained on the South Thames (London) Cardiology Rotation at St. Thomas’ and Guys Hospitals, Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, and King’s college Hospital.
Dr Sharma is a highly experienced private cardiologist in Surrey, offering expert diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of heart conditions. He was appointed Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2016 and has since built a reputation for delivering outstanding, patient-centred cardiac care.
Since 2020, he has served as Clinical Lead for General and Interventional Cardiology, overseeing the delivery of high-quality cardiology services across the region.
Dr Sharma has extensive expertise in complex coronary interventions and has performed advanced PCI procedures at leading London centres, including St Thomas’ Hospital and King’s College Hospital, under honorary NHS appointments. Patients seeking a trusted heart specialist in the Surrey area benefit from his depth of experience and access to the latest techniques in interventional cardiology.
He was awarded a prestigious Clinical MD Research Fellowship, specialising in platelet function, endogenous thrombolysis, and cardiovascular risk in high-risk patients. He has published widely in leading journals, including the European Heart Journal, and has presented at internationally recognised cardiology conferences across the USA and Europe.
As an active clinical researcher and Principal Investigator in multiple international trials, Dr Sharma remains at the forefront of advances in cardiovascular medicine—bringing the latest evidence-based treatments directly to his patients.
In addition to his clinical work, he is committed to education and mentorship, supporting the development of junior doctors, cardiology trainees, and medical students.
A recognised leader in cardiology across North West Surrey, Dr Sharma has designed and delivered several advanced heart care services at St Peter’s Hospital, reflecting his commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and exceptional patient outcomes.
